2007 was a fantastic year for Business Financial Services and our agents! Part of that success came from agents looking for new business in “unusual” places. By keeping an open mind and thinking creatively throughout their day, several agents were able to get merchants funded that may have been passed up by competitors because of their industry.
Agents come to BFS because we look at a business’ ENTIRE financial situation, not just their merchant account. This enables us to service companies that fall outside of our industry’s “standard” (i.e. restaurants, retail, automotive, etc).
For example, among the “unique” fundings in 2007 was a “one stop shop” for water gardens & supplies including filtration, plants and fish. Animal based businesses were huge last year; we saw everything from veterinarians to grooming services & “doggy boutiques.” Surprisingly bugs were also profitable in ‘07 as we funded several pest control companies to the dismay of ants & termites everywhere. Many of our agents know how much BFS loves personal service businesses like tattoo parlors and hair salons which always prove to be great companies to invest in. Forget the great outdoors; the great indoors received a large amount of our funds as we helped several bowling alleys, arcades and pool halls.
